ImageJ : About

ImageJ is a tool for image processing and analysis written in Java and placed in the public domain. ImageJ supports the usual formats (GIF, JPEG, XPM, PNG, TIFF…) and may be extended by plugins (more than 300 plugins are available).

Thierry Uso has ported ImageJ 1.38x on OpenVMS. Porting means testing the main functions, writing a startup procedure and creating a PCSI kit.

ImageJ for OpenVMS needs Java 1.4-2 or later and must be installed on an ODS5 volume. ImageJ has been tested on Alpha and Itanium.

By default, the installation procedure installs ImageJ in the SYS$COMMON:[ImageJ] directory. To install it in dev:[dir.ImageJ], use the /DESTINATION parameter of the PRODUCT command.

$ PRODUCT INSTALL imagej

or…

$ PRODUCT INSTALL imagej /DESTINATION=dev:[dir]

3. Start ImageJ

$ @SYS$COMMON:[ImageJ]ij

or…

$ @dev:[dir.ImageJ]ij

The jvm 1.5-0 is used by default but the P1 parameter allows to choose another version of the jvm (example: 142 for Java 1.4-2).
